The Christian Institute of Philosophy

Biographies

I quote many Christian writers on this site from many different backgrounds and denominational affiliations.  This page gives you a quick biography of these writers so that you can evalute their personal lives and teachings.  You can then decide for yourself about the validity of their teachings and the context in which I use their quotes.  Remember, the purpose of this site is to stimulate deeper (high resolution) Christian thought.  I put you, the reader, on the "hot seat" with me to analize for yourself the "Deep things of God".

1 Corinthians chapter 2, verse 10.

I will try to be very honest in my assessment of the person's life - giving you both their Spiritual successes and failures as best as I can understand them.  You can then draw your own conclusions.  My concerns about their life or doctrine will be summarized under the title "Concerns".

I will also keep in mind that God will judge us all in the end at the judgement seat of Christ.  His evaluation will be the true and meaningful final word about how well we all did here on earth - taking into account our circumstances and the trials and temptations we had to face in our lifetime.  May the Lord forgive me if I judge them unfairly for I will receive the same judgement.  I have included this part of the site so that the reader will not be surprised by the inconsistant lives of some of the Christians mentioned on this site.  I want my readers to be well informed and savey about the truth - across the board. "Wise as serpents, and harmless as doves".   Matthew 10:16

Nee-Watchman.jpg

More than any other writer outside of the Bible itself, Watchan Nee has had the greatest effect on my life.  So, he is listed first.  You will find his quotes throughout the site.  I was introduced to his writings as a teenager and his analysis of the deeper life of Christ was absolutely critical to my Spiritual needs at that time.  I still read his writing regularly today - 50 years later!

Concerns:

I have virtually no concerns regarding the writings of Watchman Nee.  I have sought to built on his work to further define (at higher resolution) the work of the life of Christ in you.  I propose that the Holy Spirit builds structures in our lives to produce the fruit of the Spirit.  Watchman Nee was more mystical about this idea, but he may be right and I may be wrong.  I think he might agree with the structural concept in addition to the more mystical approach.

Personal Life:

I have never read anything in 50 years that would suggest he had any significant moral problems in his personal life.
